The L.A.S.Q.R. Program / Twelve weeks

A practice built
around you.

I help people replace anger and sadness with beautiful and productive optimism with my 12-week program. We examine how each emotion shapes your judgment, then build a wiser response you can practise in real life.

Private philosophical practice. Not therapy or medical care.

I walk you through the anger and sadness apps, the readings, and the ways you can make the practice your own.

01 / The approach

When emotion takes over,
life can narrow.

The reply you should not have sent. The sharp tone you are still carrying hours later. The sadness that makes a full day feel strangely empty.

A philosophical practice begins by taking these situations seriously. We look at what happened, what you judged it to mean, what you feel pulled to do, and what a good response would ask of you.

Then we practise a more considered way forward. Beautiful optimism learns to see the good that is still real and the good that may still be possible. Productive optimism turns that vision into action.

02 / The engagement

A clear structure.
Individual attention.

Philosophy becomes useful through repeated practice. These are the elements we bring together over your twelve weeks.

I / Understand

A personal intake

One long conversation about where anger and sadness appear in your life, what they cost, and the pattern we will work on.

II / Examine

Guided conversations

Type or speak to the AI guide about what happened, what it means to you, and how you could respond. Visible stages help you follow the conversation.

III / Study

Virtues and readings

Each emotion has its own four virtues, with three readings per virtue. Clear explanations and everyday examples help you write and save a to-do note for each reading.

IV / Imagine

Possible worlds

Use images of a Possible Past, Present, and Future to see what mattered, what deserves attention now, and what may still be built.

V / Continue

Your private record

Both apps let you rate the emotion from one to ten, with the date and time saved. Return to your check-ins, conversations, reading notes, and images, or download and delete your records.

VI / Refine

Direct conversations

Schedule time with me when an app is not enough. We examine what is changing and where the pattern still needs deliberate work.

At the close of the twelve weeks, we review what changed and what holds. The engagement has a defined end; any further work is a new conversation.

The purpose behind the method

Beautiful optimism.
Made productive.

My practice draws on ancient Greek, Roman, medieval, and modern philosophy. Its aim is a reasoned confidence in the possibility of a better life, developed through judgment, character, and action.

Beautiful optimism sees what is still good and what may still become possible. Productive optimism asks what you can do next to help that possibility become real.

An enduring tradition.
A personal practice.

When anger takes over

Separate the offense from the verdict it seems to place on your worth. Examine the impulse, then practise the virtues needed for a deliberate response.

When sadness narrows your life

Give the loss its proper weight without letting it define the whole future. Practise the virtues that help you notice and serve what remains good.

03 / Your practitioner

I built this
for myself first.

For over a decade, my marriage carried more anger and sadness than anyone on the outside saw. I had a PhD in ethics, yet knowing the theory was not the same as changing the habit.

Ancient and medieval philosophy helped me find a method I could actually practise. I combined that philosophical work with technology and built an instrument I could return to when I needed it. My wife and I use it together now.

I earned my PhD in philosophy, focused on virtue ethics, at KU Leuven, and held research positions in Germany and Austria. I have taught ethics, medieval philosophy, statistics, and data analytics. Today I am a Lead AI Engineer, previously a Senior Data Engineer at Statista.

That is what I bring to the practice: philosophical training, the ability to build the instrument, and personal knowledge of what the work asks of you.

A considered commitment

Is this the right
practice for you?

Start with a conversation

Thirty minutes over video, directly with me, from any timezone. We discuss your situation, the proposed practice, and the fee. Then you decide.

  • You are carrying anger or sadness that is affecting your relationships, work, self-worth, or sense of direction.
  • You want to understand and train your own judgments, and you are willing to practise between conversations.
  • You can commit about an hour a week for twelve weeks, alongside using the app in the moments that matter.

This is philosophical practice, not clinical treatment. It does not diagnose conditions or replace therapy or medical care.

04 / Before we speak

A few practical
questions.

Do I need to have read philosophy?
No. Each text arrives explained and connected to your situation. You need a willingness to examine your judgments, not an academic background.
How much time does the practice take?
About an hour a week for the selected reading, your notes, and deliberate practice, with the app available whenever anger or sadness is live.
Where does the engagement happen?
Online, from any timezone. The introductory call and intake happen over video. Your app lives at a private address and works on any device.
What does the program cost?
This is an individual engagement with a curriculum and app built for one client. We discuss the fee and terms plainly on the introductory call, before you decide whether to begin.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. Follow the twelve-week structure and use the app built for you. If, two weeks in, you notice no improvement in the emotion itself or how it appears in your life, we stop and you receive a complete refund.
Is this therapy?
No. This is philosophical practice: examining judgments and cultivating virtues through texts, conversation, and deliberate exercises. It does not diagnose or treat clinical conditions, and it does not replace therapy or medical care.
What happens after the twelve weeks?
We review what changed and what holds. The engagement and the app’s access end there; the practice you have developed stays with you. Further work on a different emotion is a new engagement, not an automatic subscription.
Can I try the method before we speak?
Yes. Start with the free anger examination or sadness examination. The private program builds on that kind of practice with your own texts, your situation, and direct personal guidance.
What if the call shows we are not a fit?
Then the conversation ends there. There is no obligation to begin an engagement.

A more considered way forward.

Bring the situation you are facing. We will begin there.
